Susana Obando

Susana Obando-Barquero started her music journey at a young age in her hometown of San Jose, Costa Rica. She has built a career as an orchestral musician and as a teacher.  Ms. Obando-Barquero holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance, a Master of Music in Performance, a Master of Arts in Teaching with Emphasis in Music, a Single Subject Music Teaching Credential, and a Kindermusik Teacher Accreditation.  As a double bass and cello player, Susana has performed in many different venues with orchestras and ensembles across the US. As a Kindermusik teacher, she loves to see the effects of music pouring into children and their families like drops of joy and magic that creates bonding and laughter. As a private instructor, Susana loves to help her students bring out the musician inside of them and help them express themselves through their musical instruments.  She is also a children’s books writer and hopes to publish her stories one day.  She lives with her husband Sean, their two children, and their dog Oso.  She loves cake, a strong cup of coffee, and is fluent in Spanish and English.
