Originally from Chicago, IL, Mr. Roskos started playing the piano at age six, and took up playing the

chamber ensembles, jazz and rock groups, and as a soloist for wedding ceremonies and church services.
He attended Western Illinois University, pursuing a degree in Trumpet Performance. While there, he
toured locally, nationally, and internationally, including two European tours with the “Jazz Studio
Orchestra”. His teachers included Dr. Bruce Briney, Dr. Jon Dugle, and Dale Hopper.
In the fall of 2000, Mr. Roskos accepted a position as an Assistant Band Director at several K-8 schools in
Chicago, where he taught and directed first and second year band students, and assisted with the

Corps, stationed near Washington, DC.
During his 22 years as a member of the The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, Mr. Roskos regularly
performed at many notable locations, including The White House, the Pentagon, and the U.S. Capitol. He
traveled internationally, performing in cities such as Oslo, Norway; Basel, Switzerland; and at Parliament
Hill in Ottawa, Canada. He performed for numerous world leaders, including six U.S. Presidents, the

DC region, including Arlington National Cemetery, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Pentagon 9/11
Memorial, George Washington’s Tomb at Mount Vernon, and the National Cathedral. He also participated
in five Presidential Inaugural Parades, and recorded with the unit on two albums.

unit’s “Production Staff” as a composer/arranger for over a decade. He wrote and arranged music for
hundreds of performances and productions, including a nationally aired U.S. Army marketing campaign.
