Clarinetist Jacob Moyer’s playing has been heralded as “superlative” and “terrific” by The Washington Post and applauded for having a “rich, woody tone and fluid velocity across all registers” by Wynton Marsalis. Jacob joined “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band in 2018 after receiving his Bachelor of Music degree from Shenandoah Conservatory and completed one year of master’s study at the University of Missouri – Kansas City. Subsequently, he received his Master of Music degree from Shenandoah Conservatory in 2023. His performances have spanned three continents, taking him to world class venues including Carnegie Hall, Chicago’s Symphony Hall, and Cleveland’s Severance Hall. Abroad, he has performed in Spain’s Auditorio de Zaragoza and Argentina’s Kirchner Cultural Center, where he was a featured soloist in the largest performing arts center in South America. Additionally, he has shared the stage with artists such as Lady Gaga and has performed on The Today Show. Jacob’s primary teachers include Garrick Zoeter, Jane Carl, Jon Agazzi, and Darrin Thiriot.


As a teacher, his students have been accepted into premiere ensembles, including the American Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, Virginia All-State Symphonic Band, Virginia Winds Academy, and Virginia All-District Bands. His students have also been accepted to national and international music festivals such as Domaine Forget and Sewanee Summer Music Festival, along with acceptance to colleges such as the New England Conservatory and the University of Michigan.
