Ian Pathak
A native of the Washington D.C. area, Indian-American Countertenor, Ian Pathak, is a versatile performer in operatic, concert, and musical theatre repertoire. He is passionate about bringing classic and new stories to audiences across the nation. In Summer 2026, Mr. Pathak joined the Des Moines Metro Opera as a Frank R. Brownell III Apprentice Artist. There he performed in Puccini’s Tosca, Szymanowski’s King Roger, and in multiple scene performances. In Fall 2025, he performed the role of Madame de la Haltière in CCM’s production of Massenet’s Cendrillon. Mr. Pathak has performed roles with CCM Opera Mainstage, the Janiec Opera Company, Opera Saratoga, Toledo Opera, Detroit Opera, and University of Michigan Opera Theatre, among others. In 2024 Pathak made his Opera Saratoga debut as a Festival Artist, performing the role of Harry the Horse in Loesser’s Guys and Dolls He has had the honor of training at the Aspen Music Festival, Music Academy of the West, and the Brevard Music Center. He has received awards from the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition, the National Society of Arts and Letters, Schmidt Vocal Arts, Sue Goetz Memorial Voice Competition, the Opera Grand Rapids Vanderlaan Competition, and the Southern Illinois Young Artists Competition. Mr. Pathak earned his master’s degree from the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM), in May 2026, and holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre, and Dance.
