Kindermusik at Potomac Music is seeking professional educators with a passion for developing young minds, talents, and creativity for our W-2 part-time Kindermusik instructor position. Kindermusik is the world’s leading provider of music-based education for children from birth through age seven. We use the power and joy of music-making to help children learn and grow during the years most critical to brain development.


Kindermusik at Potomac Music provides a variety of Kindermusik classes for ages birth – 7 years. Classes are provided in-person and virtually at our beautiful, spacious studio location in Lorton, Virginia.

Once hired, educators MUST complete online training successfully and receive their Kindermusik Educator License. (Training hours WILL be compensated. Timeline for training will be agreed upon prior to registration.) Currently, the role requires 1-2 hours of weekly paid prep and 5+ hours of weekly teaching time (approximately 10 hours/week. Number of classes TBD, number of classes negotiable).

Responsibilities:

* Thoroughly prepare and practice Kindermusik provided lessons to ensure an excellent educational experience.
*Set up for each class, preparing props and instruments, cleaning the classroom area, and ensuring it is a warm and welcoming space prior to parents/children arriving. *Prepare home materials for clients.
*Warmly greet and connect with students and their parents. Must have a genuine delight in helping children learn and thrive.
*Efficiently manage time in the classroom, ensuring a timely start and finish time for each class.
*Clean up after each class, sanitize instruments and ensure the studio is left in good order.
*Communicate with the owner on a weekly basis in regards to feedback, questions, & ideas.
*Participate in studio meetings from time to time.
Other opportunities, tasks, and responsibilities as requested from time to time.

Skills:

*Ability to sing unaccompanied songs with correct rhythm and pitch. Professional singing skills are NOT required.
*Computer skills, ability to create audio playlists, download lesson plans, etc.
*Ability to use MyKPro software for scheduling, lesson plans, audio, etc.
*A background in either music or early childhood education / child development is preferred.
*Experience as a caregiver of babies/toddlers is helpful but not required.
*Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*Must be able to lift up to 20lbs (instruments, boxes, etc)
*Must be able to maintain a moderate to high level of physical activity (we crawl, jump, dance, twirl, and stay on our feet for most of the class). Ability to move while singing.
*MUST pass a background check.
*Must speak English fluently.
